San Francisco, 16th of January, 2024 - ****Gigs, the world’s first telecom-as-a-service platform, announced today the appointment of Steven van Bommel as Head of Finance and member of the company’s leadership team. He joins Gigs from Adyen, where he previously served as Head of Strategic Finance.

In his new position, Steven will be responsible for the company’s financial operations, including building out the accounting and finance teams. In close partnership with the executive team, he will also oversee Gigs’ financial planning as the company gears up for its next stage of growth.

“Steven has a strong track record of building and optimizing the financial engines of high-growth and high-discipline organizations, and I look forward to partnering with him as we fuel the growth of our customers in the years ahead" said Hermann Frank, Co-founder and CEO at Gigs.

“By enabling any company to launch their own branded wireless service, Gigs has created a category of its own, making it one of the most exciting tech companies worldwide. Product-led businesses have been at the heart of my career since the beginning, and I've long been struck by Gigs' unique value proposition, which can transform any company into a high-margin subscription business. I'm thrilled to tackle the opportunity of scaling Gigs' financial operations as the company pushes the boundaries of telecom.” adds Steven van Bommel, Head of Finance at Gigs.

Steven van Bommel’s move to Gigs follows a wave of top-tier talents joining Gigs from leading fintechs such as Stripe, Revolut, Sumup, Paypal and Klarna. This strategic influx includes Rafa Plantier, formerly Nubank’s Head of Corporate Strategy, who joined Gigs to spearhead the company’s offering for fintechs.

Following its partnership with Zolve, the first neobank to launch its own US wireless service, Gigs saw a surge in demand from fintechs eager to enrich their own banking products with branded wireless plans. By fusing two essential services in one single app, fintechs can build entirely new and superior product experiences, strengthen customer retention, unlock a new recurring revenue stream and consequently use wireless as an unfair advantage.

This is how Gigs works

With Gigs, businesses can seamlessly embed wireless services into their existing product portfolios, create entirely new product experiences, and instantly open up a new recurring revenue stream while retaining full control over their brand and customer journey. From fintechs providing branded phone plans alongside their payment cards to retailers offering subscriptions bundled with their mobile devices, or even HR platforms enabling businesses to issue employee phone plans with just a tap, Gigs empowers innovators from various industries.

Before Gigs, companies attempting to offer phone plans faced months of tedious negotiations and integrations with network operators and legacy third-party services. In addition, they had to commit millions of dollars upfront and hire specialized teams to build the entire software stack from scratch to get all the building blocks to work in harmony. There simply didn't exist a single provider that offered both network access and an embeddable, programmable solution for selling and managing branded wireless subscriptions. This made it prohibitively expensive for entrants to create better user experiences, stifling innovation at a moment when connectivity is more important than ever.

Gigs is the only end-to-end telecom operating system that offers everything you need to launch and run a fully featured wireless service on carrier networks across the globe through a single integration. Gigs comprises carrier-grade wholesale connectivity, hosted end-user checkouts optimized for maximum conversion, a powerful dashboard for easy subscription management and detailed business analytics, AI-enhanced customer support for rapid resolutions, a payment engine to handle payment processing and tax compliance, and more into a single platform.
